"I bought your Spanish course for my son quite a while back, and occasionally asked him if he had been studying. This is my son the veterinarian. Well, you can imagine the excuses I was getting. But then, in February he and his wife were scheduled to go to a wedding in Tulum, Mexico. He suddenly started doing your lessons double time. I should add that he had studied Spanish in high school and had really practiced it working summers through vet school, so the lessons were not starting at ground zero. But, when they came back from their trip, I asked how his Spanish had served him, and he said that the lessons had been wonderful. My husband and I have been "playing" with Spanish for years, using tapes and one or two attempts at classes all relatively unsuccessfully. Anyway with your method we were very successful—no memorizing of conjugation of verbs, etc. and not a total concentration on tourism and shopping. However, to get on. This is my fourth year coming to a small fishing village in Mexico. Our neighbors are mostly native Mexicans with us Gringos sprinkled in. A month ago my gringo neighbors started talking about getting together to study Spanish. They have been taking locally offered Spanish lessons with only frustration and no understanding, lots of grammar and little conversation. I happily joined and said I would like to try to be the "teacher". I offered to use the CDs from Spanish Simplified. WELL, you know the rest of the story. We are all so excited and all of us five are using and understanding the language as we never had. Yes, we are still very limited, but at least we can open our mouths and "think outside the box" and get simple messages across to our neighbors, workmen (one couple is building a house) and shopping with more than just pointing.
